Inflation rate rises to 3.1% in August

Canada's annual inflation rate was stronger than expected in August, checking in at 3.1 per cent as consumers paid more for gasoline and groceries.

The August rise followed increases of 2.7 per cent in July and 3.1 per cent in June, Statistics Canada said Wednesday. Economists had been forecasting a 2.9 per cent year-over-year rate of inflation for August, according to a Reuters survey of 24 forecasts.

The Bank of Canada's closely watched core inflation index rose 1.9 per cent in the 12 months to August, following a 1.6 per cent gain in July. The higher increase in August was mainly due to a rise in prices for passenger vehicle insurance premiums, food purchased from restaurants as well as bakery and cereal products. [Read more...]

B Streets Condos | B Streets Condominiums | Annex | Floorplans

Address: 783 Bathurst St, Toronto
9 Storey and 195 Units.

B.streets is intended to create a dynamic relationship with its immediate context and community by providing a playful façade and a functional retail strip at the street level.

The Laneway access provides vehicular access to parking and a more private drop-off and entrance for the residence.

Situated on Bathurst Street, the proposed B.streets condo is accented with cubic expressions on the front façade which is a gesture that has been derived from the restrictions of the zoning envelope.

The modular “cubes” break down the elongated façade along Bathurst Street, while providing a clear view-line for pedestrian. The retail level, at ground, is set back to enforce the pedestrian relationship and allow for a generous walk-way.

Tearing back on the top, the proposed B.streets condo has a 4-storey brick podium with several bays that extrude the 4-storey datum to create variety. The B.streets development embodies a 9-storey residential complex on the top of the retail level.

The B.streets condo proposal also illustrates 6 townhouses that face laneway on the east, introducing a more gentle residential experience. The materiality differentiates the podium from the top levels.

Grey-coloured Brick is used for the podium to continue the rhythm of its context, a timeless gesture that marks the contemporary design of the building, while preserving the integrity of the neighborhood.
